SOME STATISTICS ON WATER USAGE
1. Major metropolitan Indian cities can save as much as Rs. lakhs daily and at least 15 per cent of water that's currently being lost due to leakages and pilferage from pipelines by adopting ICT (information and communication technology) tools like smart meters and sensors, a report by TERI and Nasscom has said.
2. The current gap between supply and demand of water being nearly 1,300 million litres of water, ASSOCHAM secretary general G. S. Rawat said with Delhi’s population likely to exceed 19 million by 2011 from current level of about close to 16 million, the availability of both power and water would have to be raised manifold to meet the rise in demand.
3. South and South-east Asia are home to 60 percent of the world's population but have only 36 percent of its water resources
So, it is our responsibility to not waste water.If 500 homes let their 1 tap to drip at the rate of 2 drips per minute ,360 litres can be wasted a day.One person Italy consumes about 360-375 litres of water a day!!!!!!!!!!
